Classic high alpine singletrack as the flowers try to hold on a few more days.
Don't worry, he'll be smiling when he turns around and rides this down. The switchbacks are big, wide and totally rideable. The remaining standing dead trees in the distance record more recent fire activity.
Time to turn downhill and outrun the rain on the Blackwater Fire Memorial Trail.
The ridgeline section of the trail is achieved and things are about to flatten out for the final approach of the memorial.
The memorial. It's an eerie image of discarded water packs and equipment. You just moments ago crossed the gulch and were only feet from the spot where these men lost their lives.
