I would like to promote the Loyston Loop trail on Lake Norris as an excellent trail option for Knoxville, TN region folks new to MTBiking. It is very nicely graded and pretty much IMBA compliant for the most part I think. It is wide enough for a double wide baby jogger or bike trailer except for one short (100yds) ungraded section (but this section is still passable). As of 8/16/2014, there were 2 fallen trees across the trail, but these are pretty easy to negotiate (UPDATE: trees cleared now). Ride is entirely through wilderness and at the farthest point you are about 1.5 mile out as the crow flies in deep woods. Even for experienced MTBkrs, the trail should have some merit. I bike Haw Ridge and Dirty South all the time and I had fun on this easy trail.

It would be really nice to see TVA construct more trails like this. So, please ride this trail to show that their efforts are worthwhile.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
