Automatic merging of gpx to create whole routes

MtbProject usually has "Areas" with numerous "Trails" and a few "Featured Rides."

These all have downloadable gpx files, but if you download a bunch of Trails, there's no way to say, "Take me on this big-ass loop and tell me what to do at each intersection."

Instead, if you download the gpx for a Featured Ride, it does just that, but you're at the whim of whoever built that Featured Ride.

I'd like to download all of the individual Trails from an Area and use a tool to join them, such that I determine the start point, direction, etc, but let each gpx define the waypoints, without having to redo all that effort to create each trail.

I know, asking a lot here.

Any clues or instructional aids you've found online?

Is there anyway to do a "multiple select" on a bunch of trails and download a merged gpx? Hmm, I could imagine 1000 requirements and features. I know. Still asking a lot here.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
