What you're probably wondering.

When does Foresight ship?: We're validating the concept with riders right now. Target ship is early 2027. Everyone on the early access list gets first access.
How are the predictions calculated?: From over a million past trail-condition reports logged by MTB Project and Hiking Project adventurers, combined with onX weather, snowpack and terrain data (including soil type, since clay, loam and rock all drain differently).
Are the seasonal opening dates official?: No. They're our best estimate of when a trail will be reliably rideable, based on snowmelt and drying patterns. Always follow official land manager closures.
Does this matter everywhere?: It's most useful anywhere soil holds moisture, especially clay and loam regions. In fast-draining areas, like much of the rocky Southwest, conditions change less and the forecast matters less day to day, but spring snowmelt may have a larger impact on when and where to ride.
Who's behind this?: Foresight is built by the team behind MTB Project and onX Maps. We wanted this for our own trips. The community's ride reports are what power it and make it better for all of us.
