Sehome Hill Arboretum
Overview
It's hard to tell by exploring, but the arboretum's history was shaped by coal mining and logging long ago. Fortunately, the area is much more tranquil today and the park serves as a forested backstop to Western Washington University who owns the land.
Visitors are able to drive to the top for a short ride to the observation tower with it's somewhat shrouded views of the bay and Canadian Mountains. Or, to better experience the arboretum's terrain, vegetation, and animals head out on one of the many trails that crisscross the beautiful slopes, depressions, and ridgelines.
