Overview

This is a fun network of 20+ miles of trails that span both sides of Highway 435 and runs along the Blue River Corridor (trails mostly follow Blue River Rd). Trail difficulty ranges from easy to very difficult to give visitors a wide range of options. Kansas City is known for technical rocky trails which BRP has plenty of including Highline, Wagon, Bo Ho Ca, Basement (North), Badger, Analog, and Jigsaw. The system also includes smoother trails with about 5 miles of River Trail.

Local Info

All of BRP is well maintained so any trails will be well kept. There might be times during summer where some are overgrown but volunteers do a great job of keeping them trimmed up. Depending on your skill level and length of ride, you can piece together whatever suits you. Trails south of Red Bridge Rd are older trails typically more rocky. Trails north of Red Bridge Rd are newer with more flow but still include great technical challenges.

Visiting Tips

Kansas City has clay based soils so they cannot be ridden when wet. During the Spring, trails will need a few days to dry out after rains. Summer time they will dry faster and Fall is the best time to ride. Winter can be hit or miss with freeze/thaw issues. Best bet is to only ride the trails when they are frozen and temps should be under 30 degrees with little sun. On a sunny day, it may need to be under 25 degrees.

Trail conditions are updated frequently and can be checked at urbantrailco.com/protect-the-trails.
