Albuquerque Bosque: Rio Bravo to Los Lunas Singletrack

No amenities exist throughout this entire ride.

This trail begins at the Rio Bravo Blvd parking lot and heads south staying mainly between the river and the drainage ditch.

This trail can be combined with the other various Albuquerque Bosque trails to make a one-way single/doubletrack dirt ride from the Willow Creek Trailhead in Rio Rancho to Riverside Park in Los Lunas.

The trail is doubletrack service road with few features. There are a couple points where the trail forks and it's easy to get mixed up:

1. Pay close attention near the large water canal several miles in from the Rio Bravo trailhead. This canal must be crossed but the trail continues straight ahead and to the right up a ramp, be careful not to take a wrong turn here. The river should be in sight from this point on, if not you've taken a wrong turn.

2. Just after crossing under I-25 and some golf courses east of the trail (left), there is a fork where several drainage ditches from the reservation's golf course make a delta. This is the one and only time on this trail that you want to go all the way to the east (left) path. The trail will be slightly overgrown for about 0.5 miles getting worse and worse. Eventually, you'll arrive at a set of train tracks up a slight hill which must be crossed and the trail resumes down the other side. Resume following the trail on the west (right) side of the drainage ditch which resumes immediately.

3. Just south of Hwy 147 is a large water diversion installation. Be sure to cross to the west (right) path here closest to the river with the drainage canal on your right (heading due south).

This trail has a lot of dust along it so remember to bring some chain lube and plenty of water.
