Description

This is the part of Tumbling Creek Road in Tennessee within Cherokee National Forest. The road continues into Georgia as Tumbling Creek Road (FS 22) within Chattahoochee Oconee National Forest.

The Tennessee section is easier than the Georgia section. Here it is a wide gravel road suitable for passenger cars.

Tumbling Creek flows just to the east of the road and there are lots of rapids and cascades along the way that are both visible and audible from the road. There are also some good campsites with easy river access.

This is part of a group of forest service roads that connect the Tanasi Trail system (in Tennessee) to the Bear Creek Train system (in Georgia). The Big Frog (TN) and Cohutta (GA) Wildernesses lie just to the west of Tumbling Creek Road. Peavine Sheeds Creek Road - FS 221 to north will take you to the Tanasi Trail system.
