“A section of public road which will eventually become part of a 80-175 km cycle trail planned for the area.
”
The road was originally called "The Kaikohe Rd", but in 1986 we had a severe cyclone hit the north Island of NZ, and due to the damage to the road, it was decided to close it from the mill to the least affected portion of the road. This also caused a name change so people wouldn't get confused and be unable to traverse through from either end. One end changed to Mill Rd, the other to Waima Rd.
