Overview

A great loop to test a rider's ability and backcountry comfort level before committing to one of the longer rides of this system. Views and features that rival the best of Pisgah.

Need to Know

Bring swimming suit. The trail begins right next to the French Broad River, a great place for an after-ride swim. A ride summary can be viewed here.

Description

This ride starts out with a big, steep climb on Chimney Rocks #154 consisting of a healthy mix of hike-a-bike and pedaling when you can. Once you get to the summit, enjoy the views before you head west over to the Paint Mountain Trail #7.

From there, it's a solid intermediate descent with steep, exposed, fall lines that parallel the trail down to Weavers Bend Road 209C, which you'll cruise back east to the parking area.

Ride clockwise not the way described. Still a little overgrown but ok this time of year. Some manageable down stuff on Chimney Rocks. 21mi

Many trees down, overgrown. Not really rideable at this point.
