Description

Potato Patch Road is a good old gravel forest road that starts down in the valley at Holly Creek Road (FS 18). It climbs steadily towards the "Potato Patch" intersection with Three Forks Road (FS 64). Along the way, you'll pass the Barnes Creek scenic area (waterfall) and the Bear Creek Overlook. The Bear Creek Trail is a fun way to get back to Gates Chapel Road from the overlook.

Beyond the overlook, the climb becomes a little more difficult until you reach the Potato Patch intersection. Once you reach Potato Patch, the climb is mercifully over. A left takes you to Conasauga Lake via Potato Patch Road and a right takes you on Three Forks Road (FS 64) towards the Mountaintown Creek Trail.

This is probably one of the longest continuous mountain bike climbs you can find in Georgia.

You'll also see parts of this road called Old CCC Road, Consauga Road, and Conasauga Lake Road on older maps, but the Forest Service seems to prefer Potato Patch Road today.
