”
The trail can be accessed from the Maah Daah Hey Trail: Rte 94 - Mile 48 just off of interstate west of Medora. There can be a few shallow, easy creek crossings within the first mile of that trail, so be prepared! The trail is marked by 7ft tall wooden markers with a turtle or buffalo marking etched into the wood.
Around the 3.2-mile mark on the Maah Daah Hey Trail: Rte 94 - Mile 48, look for the Buffalo Gap trail to the right. The trail is well-maintained, but you may share it with horseback riders and hikers. The trail features some amazing views of the buttes and valleys of the badlands. Follow the signs towards Buffalo Gap campground to stay on the Buffalo Gap Trail. It ends at the Maah Daah Hey - IMBA EPIC.
