“A forest road that winds its way past the local castle to Jedlová Peak where there is a mountain hut with refreshments.
”
This forest road passes near the ruins of Tolštejn Castle and then winds its way slowly to the top of Jedlová Peak / Tannenberg / Pine Mountain (775 m; 2540 ft). There's a mountain hut at the top of the peak where you can have lunch with a lovely Czech beer.
Tolštejn Castle was an important fortification during the Thirty Years' War (1618-1648), but it was destroyed during a siege in 1642 so only the ruins remain. You'll have to take a slight detour to the right around the half-mile mark to visit the castle.
