Description

Starting from the Simon Preserve Doubletrack Trail, this overgrown dirt service road climbs up to Ramona Peak. The summit is worth the grind, with 360° views of Ramona, the San Diego Country Estates and many peaks on the horizon.

Climbing the trail is not easy, and loose ground surfaces make the occasional steep incline pretty challenging. Steep climbs at the beginning are not long, and are broken up by short, easy-grade sections to let you catch your breath. The final climb at the top is long, steep and loose, so challenge your riding buddies to stay on the bike the whole way up! The total climb is about 600 feet.

At the top, the views are excellent, and in spring the flowers are beautiful. Plenty of options for loops once you're up on top of the ridge.

This climb is steeper than it looks and there's some loose gravel. But that's the ridge summit right up there!
