Description

Beginning at the intersection with the Latham Cemetery Trail #234D, riding the loop clockwise you'll ride for 1/4 -1/2 mile on gravel road. Look for the singletrack to exit to your right. As you start down the singletrack, you'll begin descending on a smooth section with some nice views to your right. You'll also have a nice view of Currahee Mountain almost directly in front of you. You can carry lots of speed down this section, but be prepared for a hard right turn as shown on the map.

After the turn, you'll continue downward then have a short uphill section. As the trail bears to the left, there's a very large boulder directly in front of you, a nice place for a break and maybe a photo.

Continue descending downward on a nice, flowing section. Near the bottom, the trail becomes a little fall line and there is some erosion on the trail so pay attention. At the bottom, you'll cross a bridge and bear to your right. After about 100 yards, you'll encounter a very rocky downhill section.

CAUTION - you probably want to scout this section before attempting to ride it! It's a difficult section especially near the bottom. At the bottom you'll cross Frady Branch (look to your right at the old bridge footings). The trail now follows an old road bed.

There is another rocky downhill with some erosion, but not as difficult as the last. Your will ride along the old roadbed for roughly a mile riding along the creek and making a couple of creek crossings. There are some eroded sections of trail, so be looking ahead. You'll make one final creek crossing and begin climbing up an eroded section of trail.

Soon the trail surface will improve as you continue the climb. A short downhill section will turn into an old roadbed which you'll follow for about 100 yards. The trail will then take a sharp right turn uphill (this is the intersection with Leatherwood Creek Trail #234B.

The next 0.7 miles, you'll climb steadily with some rocky segments along the way. About half way up is an interesting rock outcropping. Continue climbing through a pine stand and finally you'll emerge on a dirt road at the intersection with Pear Orchard Trail #234C. Turn right and ride the dirt road back to the start to complete this loop.
