Description

The best starting point is from the Old Military Road Trail trailhead that is off Holson Valley Road.

Take the Old Military Road Trail for around a half mile then the trail will split. There is a sign that points the direction of the Boardstand Trail. The trail involves climbing up towards Deadman Gap turnoff.

The first portion of the trail will take you across multiple dry river beds and several dirt roads. The mountainside is mainly made up of pine trees. There will be some great views through the trees to the valley below. Deer can be seen in the area along with turkeys and chipmunks.

The trail is generally deserted. There will be the occasional dirt bike rider, hiker, or horseback rider. The trail will need to be ridden from the Deadman Gap east to give a better description of this area, but largely continues in the same fashion with a number of descents but, overall, a considerable amount of climbing until FR A35G.
