Family Friendly Easy riding but with some nice, not challenging up-and-down hills.

Overview

This ride is comprised of singletrack through river lowlands and along bluffs overlooking the river valley. The flowers are beautiful in spring and early summer and there are nice colors in fall.

Need to Know

Horses are allowed on many of the trails, so be aware. Rarely see them, but the Legg Park section is frequented by equestrians.

Description

To access this ride, park at Eastgate Park off Meridian Rd. Follow the Beech Tree Loop to the bridge. After the bridge, stay left if it has been raining, as the trail is high and dry. Go right if no recent rain. Both end up the same place and can be done as a loop if not too wet.

When the trail pops out on a paved walkway, take a hard right through the fence to stay on Deer Run Trail. This trail heads through beautiful woods with lots of flowers in the spring and early summer. Some elevation change with gentle inclines. A couple of sandy patches on high ground and muddy patches in low sections, but mostly nice hard packed singletrack.

When you get to Harris Nature Center, ride through parking lot and cross Van Atta Rd to continue on the Oxbow Trail to the Oak Ridge Trail and Oak Ridge Bypass in Legg Park. This is the best part of the ride. After looping through Red Cedar Preserve on the Oak Ridge Trail, head back the way you came.
