Overview

A family or beginner-oriented ride on mostly doubletrack, with one short section of challenging singletrack that is walkable for the beginners in your group. The falls are great, even in low water years.

Need to Know

Bring a lock if you are visiting the Berry Creek Falls.

Description

This is a great beginner's ride a few miles north of Davenport. The park is officially named Rancho del Oso. Park outside the gate or across the street at the Waddell Beach parking lot. The trail is mostly doubletrack, but there are some short segments of singletrack as well. The climbs are short/easy and the entire route is non-technical as it follows Waddell Creek. Although it is definitely a beginner ride, the length will allow for a good workout. In addition, this route has great shade cover, making it a good choice for a hot day.

The end of the trail there is a bike rack (bring a lock) which will allow you to lock your bike if you want to make the 0.5 mile hike up to the falls where there is a viewing platform. The hiking trail connects with other hiking trails coming from Big Basin, so you'll see other hikers headed down to the coast from the Sky-to-Sea Trail

Very chill trail. Three of us did it at a mellow pace on a gravel bike and two commuter bikes, and had no trouble. Beautiful and pleasant!
