Description

The Direct Route is a simple trail that is most useful as a way to create additional loops off of Family Trail and Horse Trail. It is ranked "Easy/Intermediate" only because it does have a few sections with grades in excess of 10%. However, the trail is very short and none of these sections are difficult.

From the parking lot head straight through the horse arenas and climb through the gate at the top of the hill (if horses are in the arena you'll have to proceed North from the parking lot and take the sled hill road to this point. Don't ride through the arena with horses present). Take a left as the trail intersects with a dirt road. In about 100m, you'll see a sign with "Direct Route" to the right and a symbol for sledding to the left. Take the right and the trail jumps up into the woods. This first climb is a bit steep, but it levels out nicely as the trail joins with the Family Trail for the next 50m or so.

Once the Family Trail splits on your right you'll go another 100m and see another trail sign indicating the Direct Route continues to the right and the Horse Trail begins to the left. Take the right and experience another brief but steep climb. The trail will turn to the right and cross the Family Trail. Sprint through this section, hang one more left-hand turn and you pop out on Plum Creek rd at the map kiosk and the intersection of the end of the Family Trail.
