Why ride Big Bear? Beautiful singletrack in seemingly endless supply! And Mother of Crack is a perfect example. It has a few challenging rock features but it is mostly a trail of intermediate difficulty. Run in the indicated direction its a moderate ascent with a tad of downhill. All of it is enjoyable. If combined with Fern and Race Loop it's easy to make a short loop. Best is probably starting at the top, riding Fern to Mother of Crack in the mostly downhill direction and returning back up on Race Loop.

For the direction shown here, access Mother of Crack as you begin to ascend the Race Loop doubletrack. Its marked purple and takes off on the left side and begins its ascent. Stay to the right as you reach the airstrip area to continue on the Fern singletrack.
