Description
Blind Hollow is a trail for the experienced featuring many tough sections and obstacles. A 1-mile ascent leads to another 5 of descending. You'll want to shuttle this trail and leave a car at the bottom. There is a parking area right before the turn off for the Temple Fork Road. The final curve before Temple Fork has a dirt area on the south side. Park a car here and take another car up to the top of Tony's Grove.
Start from the Horse Trailer Parking area near Tony's Grove Lake. From the parking area, follow Mt. Naomi Peak NRT, which is in the furthest corner (south west) and start climbing the hill. The climb is fairly steep, and has some obstacles, but nothing too crazy. After climbing the switchbacks you'll reach an area with a clearing and a fence.
The fence is a grazing area fence, and can be passed over. There will be a section that can easily be passed over, as the trail is obvious leading to and from here as well. After the fence, the trail will even out for a bit and then come to a split in the trail. Take a left to head down to the beginning of Blind Hollow. Pay careful attention in this next section. The trail leading to Blind Hollow, known as
Hansen Pond Trail, is hard to spot. At the second major clearing, look for the trail on your right, taking off down the meadow. This is where you take off to meet with the
Blind Hollow Trail.
From here on out is where Blind Hollow gets its name. Tall grass, tight turns, and random rocks, boulders and roots make for a fun and tricky ride. Be careful coming into turns as there are most likely boulders or unexpected terrain waiting for you. The descent lasts for 5 miles and puts you out onto the highway right before the Temple Fork Road turn off. Take your car back up to the top, and recover from battle.
