Overview

Purpose built singletrack. It's a shorter loop of the Forest Lea system - rolling terrain gains a ridge and drops down to a small lake. It's rocky and rooty like all Forest Lea Trails. All intersections are signed. There's a map at TH or at forestleatrails.blogspot.com

Need to Know

It can be buggy here in late May and early June. Riding is fine but don't stand around! Connect this with the Original/Red loop and the Back Trails for over 30k of singletrack.

Description

Start at the parking area at the West end of Forest Lea Rd (between Petawawa and Pembroke). The trail starts to right of ski club at the top of the parking lot. Follow the orange arrows through pine stand, across the rock fence line and back into the hardwood forest.

There are some zoomy turns that drop the trail under the roots of a giant white pine, then on to Jeff's Junction. This is a shortcut back to the parking lot (signed). If you're up for more, continue to Q Loop add on, which has some fun narrow bridges over wet areas. The trail climbs a low ridge, rips along the top and drops down some rock ledges to the small lake at the bottom.

From there, there's more cruising through poplars and the trail pops onto the wider ski trail, which winds up a larger climb for a downhill run to the parking. The trail finishes with some winding through spruce trees, where you can link onto the Original Route for much more riding. Go left if you are calling it done.

History & Background

Built in 2006 and 2008. Look for the remains of a giant beaver dam in the middle of the lake.
