Stay off the Mid State Trail - it is clearly marked no bikes and is well traveled.

Description

Make sure the you DO NOT access this trail off the Mid State Trail (MST) as this has a negative impact on biking in the area. It is ok to cross over the MST while riding this trail just not as a means to get to the trail.

Going north - towards Shingetown, be careful on the downhill - about halfway through there is an extremely steep section that can be quite slippery when covered by leaves. Eventually, you'll cross an access road, and further down the hill you'll intersect with Shingletown Gap Trail lower. Cross over this and continue down and finally, you'll reach the low point at Roaring Run. Cross the stream on a log bridge (hiking recommended) and meet up with Lower Trail at the Sand Spring campsite area. Sand Spring Trail - North also continues north towards the Bald Knob Ridge Trail.

Going south - towards Laurel Run Rd you'll drop down and cross Little Shingletown Trail before the trail really drops and provides a fun few seconds of descent. Cross over the log and then across the stream at the camp to exit onto Laurel Run Rd

Starting from the crest of Little Shingletown Trail down to Sand Spring Trail - South and down across the stream has been a staple stage of the Transylvania Epic enduro day for the past several years.
