Description

This is a crushed limestone trail that Runs from the Al Foster trailhead past Bluff View Trail, through Sherman Beach Park and into Stinging Nettle trail in Castlewood State Park. This trail can be used to link up a number of different trails and parks for a full day of riding! These include the paved Rock Hollow trail, Bluff View Trail, Zombie Trail, Sherman Beach and all the trails within Castlewood State Park.

There are many sights to see along the Al Foster. You get views of the Meramec River, river bottoms, bluffs, a number of ponds, and the miniature Frisco/Wabash railroad crosses the trail in a few places! Al foster takes you along the bluffs lining the river flood basin and passes under an active rail line. You'll get to see a lot of the surrounding wildlife on the rocks if you stop and enjoy the scenery.

There are a number of benches along the length of the trail to take a rest during your ride and take in the scenery and a memorial is located at the far west end of the trail.
