Kodiak Island Mountain Bike Association

A growing collection of serious mountain bike enthusiasts led by an older subgroup that jokingly calls themselves the AARP Kodiak Mountain Biking Club. A number of members conduct almost daily excursions up nearby Pillar Mountain for up and downhill riding as well as trail development. Kodiak, Alaska and Pillar Mountain, in particular, is surprisingly well-suited for year-round riding provided proper clothing and riding gear is used in winter. Our base of operations is the Kodiak Island Brewing Company situated in downtown Kodiak whose owner is one of our most avid mountain cyclists. We believe our community offers many world-class trails, easily accessed with shuttle runs available via a fully developed gravel road to the top of Pillar.
