Description

The start of this trail is located at the Horsethief Springs Trailhead off of the Talimena Scenic Drive. You drop in at the trailhead and things get fun and rowdy pretty quick. Expect loose boulders packed tightly together, roots, and planted rocks to roll over. The first third of the trail starts steep and technical and gradually levels out over the final two-thirds.

Maneuvering the rocks isn't difficult but the beginning does have steep sections that you either have to lay off the front brake and roll through or get off the bike and walk.

The first one-third of this trail is a good candidate to shuttle with a downhill bike as it spits you out onto fire road N4685, which is accessible by car/truck from the trailhead, see the Horsethief Trail to Fire Road N4685 featured ride. Additionally, the entire trail could be shuttled if you left a car at the Cedar Lake parking lot.

Look for white and yellow rectangles that mark the Horsethief Springs Trail.
