Overview
Mostly walking path width trails with some vigorous uphill climbs and speedy downhills. Amazing views throughout the entire ride and you'll meet wildlife during the ride, mostly deer.
This trail may also be referred to as the Lake Koocanusa Trail or the Kootenai Trail.
Need to Know
There are parking areas at the Eureka Historical Village or Abayance Bay in Rexford, MT. The Lake Koocanusa Area lies within Rexford, MT that has an outstanding bar called "The Frontier Bar." A great stop in for the half way break.
Description
Starting at Eureka, this is a relatively flat 7 miles along the river and railways. Once you reach the gate, you'll cross into a campground area and will ride by the Pigeon Bridge to encounter a steep loose rock uphill climb. Once you reach the top, follow a gravel road back into the forested area and will ride through a path that follows Lake Koocanusa all the way to Abayance Bay. Once there, you can ride it back to the Eureka Historical Village, with a stop at the Frontier Bar...if you wish.
History & Background
Eureka Historical Village has buildings and rail cars dating back to the late 1800s.
