The Mysterious World of the Upper Pivka

The route begins under the mighty Podtabor cliff, continues along the old path under the wall and rises to ilentabor. From here, it descends to the Pivka basin and rises to the high karst meadows, which descends to the starting point.

The route runs along the stone and macadam roads, then on asphalt and a gravel path again and descends using old paths and gravel path to the starting point. Along the way, you'll see beautiful nature and local villages.

The old road before ilentabor is in bad condition along a 200m section, so it is necessary to walk trough that part.

The trail begins in embije in the parking lot near the main road. Start on the road in the direction of Kneak and turn left to the first village street. Follow the streets to the west, and soon reach the field path that descends towards Podtabor.

In the village, turn sharply right, then at the beginning of the descent, turn right onto the narrow path. The trail continues at the foot of the cliff, where we can see the cave and the remains of a medieval fortress. After passing through a tunnel carved into the rock, the trail begins to climb through the forest. All through follow the straight path. In one part of the path is overgrown and it requires a short section of the wheel pass over obstacles.

When you get to the junction of three roads, turn right, up the hill. You can then continue straight down in Zagorje, or turn left and make a detour to ilentabor, where we visit the remains of the castle and enjoy the view. After the descent in Zagorje, the route continues along the main road. At the first intersection, turn left on "Izvir Pivke" through fields and drive to the castle Kalec. Continue along the asphalt road towards the village of Bac and continue to Koritnice. Here the road begins to climb.

At 18.4 km, turn right and continue along the forest path. At 20.5 km turn right onto a side road, which leads to Milanja. Here the route continues uphill straight along the cart track to the top of the ridge. On the right, you can visit a stone top called tooth. The route then continues downhill on a abandoned path, which soon joins the gravel road. At the crossroads at the foot of Milanja, turn right and continue straight to the village embije. At the main road, turn left and after 100m arrive at the starting point.
