Description

Pinon runs southward from the intersection with Lower Pine and Gear Grinder. Note that spelling varies on signs and maps.

The trail is mostly old two-track but smooth sections, sudden rock gardens, eroded gullies and banked turns are all part of the mix.

After crossing Bear Scat Trail the trail is narrower and more twisting. It eventually ends at Lone Pine.

Pinon is a good way to get to Bear Scat Trail without the rigors of Gear Grinder.
