Overview

The combination of Field Loop, Leonard's Loop, and Flying Squirrel make one of the best beginner and less advance intermiedate rides outside of Burlington in Vermont. 100 percent singletrack and 100 percent machine built. These trails flow great and let newer riders experience the fun of mountain biking with out the typical roots and rocks of surrounding areas.

Need to Know

Parking is available near the lake on the east side of Plunkton Road.

Description

One of only 2 IMBA Gateway Trails in country. Blueberry Lake is the defacto smooth riding area in the northern green mountain. With wide machine built singletrack, this is the place to take beginner or to experience speed!!

This ride covers all Blueberry Lake has to offer.

After parking at lot east of Plunkton Road, you'll cross the road on to the obvious trail. Follow this trail up slight up grade and then make your first right on to the Field Loop. Continue to climb up the field as trail reaches the top, the pond is very scenic setting and pure Vermont.

Field Loop contains the first fun and easy descent of the day that unless you have to have roots and rocks, will leave you grinning. You'll then make the first right on to Worm Bermer and go down the steep straight hill. After crossing the bridge the trail turns up hill and quickly intersects with the bottom of Leonard's Loop bear left and conitue to climb Worm Bermer. Worm Bermer goes quickly up the hill with a moderate grade and tight switchbacks. you'll be greet with 4 way intersection. Go straight though the intersection and you'll be on Flying Squirrel.

Flying Squirrel meanders up the hill and then meanders down the hill. Its fast and fun. Pedaling even going down here is greatly rewarded. At the bottom you'll make a left on to the doubletrack converted into singletrack and climb back up the 4 way intersection.

Go straight though that intersection and continue on to Leonard's Loop. Keep and eye on the right for a sweet little rock rolldown/drop that has been built up. The trail will eventually turn down the hill and go though several rollers and lots of flowly turns and some sick bermed up switchback. You'll eventually be put out on to the bottom of Worm Bermer where you can decide to go do it all again or make left and head back to your car.

Not too technical, more about climbs and descents. Fun berms on switchbacks, some great flow trails, especially the trail marked as "most difficult". 9.3mi
