Description

Grove Run is a loop that it typically ridden counter-clockwise from the end of Fish Run Trail. In either direction it is the steepest and most technically challenging descent and climb at Laurel Mt. To do this loop you should be have better than average technical skills and be aerobically fit. Here is a description of both:

Counter-clockwise: From the end of Fish Run, make a right. You'll be in for a very rocky, but all rideable descent. On your way down you'll cross over Quarry Rd and eventually end up in Linn Run Campground. Make a left and follow the campground road to get the next section of Grove Run. This section will be a switchback climb that is off-camber, rocky and narrow. At the end of your 1 3/4 mile climb, you'll have a choice on how to return. You can go straight across Quarry Rd and make a right on Fish Run Tr to double back Fish Run or make a right on Quarry Rd, then a left on Weaver Rd and a left on Hickory Flats Rd to get to the top of Linn Run Rd. A right on Linn Run Rd will take you to Wolf Rocks Parking lot in less than a mile.

Clockwise: From the end of Fish Run a left is made on Grove Run. In less than 1/4 mile you cross over Quarry Rd. Be prepared for a rocky off-camber descent that will include tight switchbacks, rocky stream crossings and benchcut singletrack just barely wide enough for your tire. After a 1 3/4 mile downhill you'll enter Linn Run Campground. Once in the campground you'll have to carefully watch for the continuation of Grove Run Trail on your right.

When you find the trail, be prepared for a grinder of a climb. Initially the rock gardens will be challenging but rideable. After crossing Quarry Rd you'll hit uphill rocky sections which Hans Rey may not be able to clean. These are short lived as the majority of the trail can be ridden by a skilled mountain biker. You'll eventually end the loop back at Fish Run Trail.

From there you can make a left and double back Fish Run or go straight and make lefts on Quarry Rd, Weaver Rd and Hickory Flats Rd to get to the top of Linn Run Rd. A right on Linn Run Rd will take you to Wolf Rocks Parking lot in less than a mile.
