At its southern terminus, Selgren's trail intersects with the Valley View Trail. At its north end the trail utilizes an easement through the Big Wood Subdivision to gain access to the Sun Valley Company lands and Big Wood Subdivision lands that Selgren's Trail passes through.

The trail is steeper where it passes through the subdivision lands, but mellows into an easier rolling contour alignment higher up.

The trail is quite wide and is smooth in some sections, and bumpy with embedded rocks in other areas.

Good views into the Adams Gulch drainage and up to the Boulder Mountains are found along this stretch of trail. Baldy views also predominate.
