The name speaks for itself. A long section of difficult trail with little respite until the end.

Closed when specified on madcitydirt.com/trailcondit…, when the gate at the trailhead is closed, or when common sense tells you it's too muddy or would be rutted, post-holed, etc.

Description

What's in a name? You'll find out. The first part is fairly fast but often very technical. The far northwest corner is the bottom of a long descent, and you start to realize you're going to pay for that potential energy you just blew through.

The longest, most technical climb at Blue Mounds begins about a mile in, cutting back and forth, with the worst part over when you reach two rocky crossings that veer to the right. Take a break - there's some more technical stuff ahead.

After a few more technical features, including a very challenging rock garden, this trail actually gets easier about 2/3 of the way through and your reward for the sweat you just produced is flying underneath the canopy on your way to Home Stretch.
