Need to Know

This trail is best ridden as a downhill, and rides descending are generally traveling at high speeds with blind corners, which makes can be dangerous for novice ascenders.

Description

The School Bus trail (aka Magic Bus on Forest Service maps) can be incorporated into several different loops or ridden as an out and back from Hobbit 3. From Hobbit 3 climb at a moderate grade with many switchbacks through shady forest to a trail junction in a meadow just below 9600'. The trail crosses several privately held mining claims through which access has been secured.

I have come to really appreciate this trail. It has it good flowy sections, and horrendous awkward corners. It's hard to ride fast, and that's ok.

A fun - and for West Mag, long - run. Pretty cool variety. Highlight is definitely the high speed section above the creek bottom.
