“A short loop near the top of Cowboy Trails.”
— Markk Knowles on Aug 1, 2013
DescriptionOuter Loop is slightly less technical than some of the other trails in Cowboy, but not easy by any perspective.
This trail is an open loop and connected with no fewer than half a dozen other trails, so access & exit points are plenty. Staying on the trail however requires a gps, excellent map skills or the MTB Project mobile app.
Down the trail from the start of this loop (if ridden clockwise) the trail mysteriously ends into a wall. After scratching your head for a moment, you'll see there's a short "climb a bike" section where you'll have to shoulder your steed and climb up a bouldery wash. Beyond that, there are equal advantages and disadvantages to riding either direction. The terrain is challengingly fun!
**NOTE** As with most if not all of the trails at Cowboy, body armour is recommended unless your technical skills are very polished.
