“Classic Grand County singletrack”
— RV Knight on Jul 26, 2013
OverviewThis is a popular ride off the St Louis Cr Trailhead, and there are many other options in the area. It's a good climb to top of Chainsaw, then continue up Broken Spade, short road section to top of Zoom. Then nice singletrack downhill back to the trailhead.
DescriptionThe trailhead is on St Louis Cr Rd, about 2 miles west of Fraser. Start on the Creekside trail along smooth fairly flat singletrack through creek bottom meadows to a trail sign for Chainsaw - go left there. Ride Chainsaw - it's a moderate climb with nice flow and scenery. You'll cross a bridge over St Louis creek and in 1/4 mile, look for the junction to Flume and follow the sign to a left on Chainsaw. The trail climbs through forest with ponds and meadows. Take in views of Fraser Valley in newly logged areas.
In approximately 2 miles at top of trail, take an unmarked trail to the right on Broken Spade. You'll have a singletrack climb through forest for 1.5 miles to FS road 163. Turn right on the road and it's about 200 yards to the top of Zoom trail. You should see the Zoom trailhead sign on the road, and you'll follow the singletrack downhill for a fast 1.5 mile descent to a Chainsaw.
Go right and follow the trail back to the trailhead on St Louis Creek.
