“Some difficult climbing leads to the amazing page Meadow.”
— Nick Wilder on Jun 30, 2013
DescriptionThis trail is marked difficult due to the long steep climb at the beginning. If you are descending, this is an intermediate trail. The upper sections are all beginner-friendly.
This trail has a confusing start - use the MTB Project mobile app to make sure you stay on the route. From the south side of the Truckee River (perhaps starting from the large public parking lot), used the paved path along the river until it turns away. Continue straight, now on an old road that is reverting to dirt. Stay on the river and pass a small creek. Soon after, look for the Tahoe Rim Trail sign to the left and follow that singletrack.
It starts off with nice forested switchbacks, but then starts a relentless, steep, and somewhat loose climb up the valley. If you have a lot of power, and lungs to match, it's rideable. Most people have a walk a ways.
Eventually you top out and have some nice flat riding through the forest until you reach Page Meadow.
The meadow is spectacular, so take your time enjoying the flowers, and the nice trail work that makes it possible to ride here. Check out the spur trails in the area - there are nice loops to be made.
Once through the meadow, the trail continues on through forest down to Ward Creek. You could return this way, but it would be better to retrace your steps. Better yet, just do the Page Meadows Loop!
