Description

This is the alternate trail to take back down from the top of Georgia Pass if you're doing the Kenosha Pass to Georgia Pass ride. Instead of riding back down the Colorado Trail as you came up, you can take West Jefferson to the right and do a loop back to the Colorado Trail.

This option is more difficult than the Colorado Trail, with more rocks and roots.

Starting at the top, you descend through high alpine terrain and then hit some tight switchback in trees. You'll then follow Jefferson Creek until you get the the campground and the intersection with the Colorado Trail.

Just before you top out at Georgia Pass, stop, regroup, refuel, laugh with friends and enjoy the scenery. For a better way back down go right on W. Jefferson trail instead of going back down the way you came.

Looking down after you've passed through the W. Jefferson bowl into the beautiful singletrack that leads back into the trees.

W. Jefferson is mostly fun flowy slightly technical singeltrack all the way down to the campgrounds but there are 2 creek crossings that are typically walked.

Really fun downhill. Alpine start is gorgeous and fun, then into the forest, which gets fast. Switchbacks are pretty tight in the beginning.

Actually not the worst climb to mix things up. More scenic, but a bit more pushing. More time in the alpine at the top kinda makes it worth it.
