Description

Jackson Hole is an abandoned river meander, where the river cuts through a bend to straighten its channel, leaving a central butte in a moat-like valley.

The ride from Hurrah Pass or Lockhart Basin out to Jackson Hole runs through very rugged and remote terrain (including some private property). This is a burly ride, no matter how you slice it. While the trail runs on easy to moderate jeep road, there is a fair bit of sand and the distance from just about anywhere is long, so come prepared with extra food, water, and a can-do attitude.

Most bikers will want to climb up Jacob's (Jackson's) Ladder at the far end of the Hole, but you can also ride the loop all the way around the central butte, and return the way you came if you aren't craving a downhill run off Amasa Back.
