Overview

This is a fun shuttle drop on a motorcycle trail for the adventurous rider looking for something new and different in the front range. It's definitely not a classic mountain bike ride, but if you're into dirt bikes this could make for a great dual sport day, ride the bike down and the moto up to get the shuttle vehicle.

This is a dirt bike trail first and foremost so show some respect to these guys and let them know you appreciate their trail.

Need to Know

Severely eroded sections following the heavy rains of 2013. You've been warned.

There are some other cool places in the area that are worth tying in with a ride. Don't miss Bishop's Castle if you've never been there. There are some other motorcycle trails in the area that may be worth exploring/researching as well.

Description

Leave a car/shuttle vehicle somewhere around Lake Isabel and then drive up to Greenhorn Mountain road off of Ophir Creek Road. Park at the intersection of Greenhorn Mountain Road and FS Road# 335. Ride out Road #335 until you see a sign for St. Charles Trail and the beginning of the singletrack.

Shortly after, you'll see a sign for St. Charles East and St. Charles West. For this ride, turn right and begin the rowdy adventure back to your car. At the junction with Cisneros Trail #1314, turn left and you'll soon end up back at Lake Isabel and your shuttle vehicle.

There are a couple of short uphill hike-a-bike sections that can be annoying if you aren't expecting them. A lot of sections are pretty eroded after the heavy rains in 2013 that left some pretty deep and sketchy ruts that add to the adventure of it all.
