Description

This is an epic descent from near the top of Larkspur mountain down to Woody Creek. It is currently a bit overgrown, and requires some route-finding. Best accessed by doing a shuttle from the Lenado Road (just uphill from mile marker 5) or by riding up the dirt road, through the town of Lenado and toward the start of the Arbaney Kittle trail.

Hannon Creek trail starts behind a campsite at the top of the Lendo Road. The trail has a short doubletrack climb, then drops steeply off to the left. If you can pry your eyes off the trail, there are spectacular views of the Elk Mountains and the area's four ski areas to your left. This section of the trail has a steep descent along the ridge before the it makes a right turn and contours the hill through aspen groves with some of the largest aspen trees in the Roaring Fork Valley.

After several stream crossings, the trail enters the Hannon Creek drainage and plunges steeply down to the Lenado road.

One of the many great spots for views, and one of the few good spots of trail.

Trail is extremely overgrown and disappears at many points. A few fun spots but not worth the looong road climb, was constantly on the brakes.

Requires some route finding. Awesome backcountry descent. Should not become part of Sloane Peak Wilderness
