Description

Beall connects Cow Creek with the top of Emerald Mountain. It can be ridden in both directions but is optimal as a climb from Cow Creek.

This trail is closed to all forms of entry from Dec. 1 through June 30 to protect elk during their sensitive winter and calving seasons. Refer to the BLM for details.

The lower reaches of Beall start in open and shrubby vegetation, transitioning to dark evergreen and mature aspen forest. The trail climbs steadily but not overly steep. Half way through, the route crests a lower ridge and provides a short downhill.

From here to the intersection with Ridge, Beall contours and climbs gradually to the top of Emerald Mountain. Near the summit there are fantastic sweeping views to the south and west.

Stay left to continue on the Beall - Ridge - Rotary Loop or turn right to explore the frontiside of Emerald and Howlson Hill trails.

Sustained climbing! Only rode about halfway up (1:15) and then back down (0:30 including stopping to take pictures)
